What accounts will the VNB Debit Card access?
At a Virginia National Bank ATM, you will be able to access up to 6 of your checking and money market accounts. VNB Debit Card purchases will be withdrawn only from the account you designate as your primary checking account. For regulatory reasons, your primary account may not be a money market account.

How do I access multiple accounts at the ATM with my VNB Debit Card?
The ATM machine will ask which account you wish to access. Money Market accounts are accessed under the checking category.

Are there any fees associated with the VNB Debit Card?
No. There is no sign-up or annual fee for the VNB Debit Card. Transactions at VNB ATMs and cash dispensers are free. ATMs that are not operated by VNB may apply a surcharge to your transaction; this is charged by the company that owns the ATM, not by Virginia National Bank. Visa® does not allow merchants to charge you a fee for using the card for signature transactions.

Can I get cash back on my VNB Debit Card?
Many merchants, such as grocery stores, will allow you to take "cash back" when making a check card purchase. They will only allow this with PIN-based transactions, for obvious security reasons. The neat thing about getting cash back is that doing this will save you a trip to an ATM and allow you to avoid possible surcharge fees.

What are some ways to prevent VNB Debit Card fraud?

Do

  • Sign your new Virginia National Bank Visa® Debit Card immediately with permanent ink
  • Commit your personal identification number (PIN) to memory
  • Report lost or stolen cards immediately
  • Immediately notify us if you change your address or phone number
  • Keep an eye on your Debit Card during transactions, and get it back as quickly as possible
  • Keep a record of your card number and the expiration date, in case the card is ever lost or stolen
  • Take receipts with you or tear them up before they are thrown away
  • Review all Debit Card transactions carefully and immediately report anything you find unusual, or transactions you don't recognize immediately.
  • Remember to subtract the amount of purchases you make, amounts you withdraw, and any fees from your account balance

Don't

  • Loan your card to anyone
  • Leave your card, account number, or receipts in an unsecured area
  • Write your PIN on your card or keep a copy of your PIN in your wallet or purse
  • Give out your Debit Card number over the phone or the Internet unless you initiate the transaction and then only if you know the organization is reputable
  • Send your Debit Card details by e-mail

Can I use my VNB Debit Card internationally?
In most cases, yes. VNB Debit Cards will not work in Turkey or Romania. We strongly recommend that you consider testing your card and familiarizing yourself with ATM and Debit Card rules and restrictions before you leave the country. Credit cards are always preferable to check/debit cards, as there is no risk of your account being wiped out.
