Virginia National Bank is proud to support the Taste of the Town Benefit and Auction event on September 7, 2017 to benefit the Free Medical Clinic of Northern Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Virginia. Several VNB staff members will be in attendance, along with many guests who will generously help raise funds for the important programs of the Free Medical Clinic.

About the Taste of the Town

The Taste of the Town Benefit and Auction is a tradition in the Winchester area that supports the valuable work of the Free Medical Clinic. In 1997, Taste of the Town was proposed by a Free Medical Clinic volunteer. Since that very first year, the community has generously supported this event that has become their most significant fundraiser of the year, providing funds that allow them to serve the healthcare needs of vulnerable uninsured families in the community.  This year they celebrate 21 years of this wonderful event. Last year, they raised over $110,000!  The event will be held on September 7, 2017 at Shenandoah Valley Country Club.

This is a black tie optional culinary experience.  Approximately 10 of the area’s premier chefs create a sampling of their signature dishes to showcase their restaurants. This year’s theme is: Passport to Dine. Each chef will highlight a specific country or culture. Taste of the Town is truly the only event of its caliber in the area.

About the Free Medical Clinic

Founded in 1986, the Free Medical Clinic of Northern Shenandoah Valley, Inc. began as a weekly makeshift clinic run by volunteers in the basement of First Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Because of community support, today the FMC operates five days a week in the Shockey Building on the beautiful Our Health Campus on Cameron Street in Winchester. Then and now, the community is at the heart of their mission to ensure that everyone has access to compassionate, quality healthcare. Many volunteers share their time and talent right here in the Clinic, and still more medical professionals partner with FMC to provide medical services in their own offices. All are working together to improve the lives and health of low-income, uninsured residents of the City of Winchester, Frederick and Clarke Counties.

In 2016, community support allowed them to:

· Provide 15,750 visits and services on-site and by community partners
· Treat 1,754 unduplicated patients
· Dispense over $9 million (retail value) worth of prescription medications
