Virginia National Bank was one of four underwriters for the inaugural Daily Progress Greater Charlottesville Business Hall of Fame held on Tuesday, June 12, 2017 at Boar's Head Inn. Eight business leaders were honored at the leadership luncheon where Glenn Rust was one of the presenters. This event was founded by The Daily Progress and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame were: J.F. Bell, Hovey Dabney, Josephine Henderson, Bill Hildreth, Frank Ix, Jr., Sam Jessup, John Rogan, and Harry Van Beek.

The Daily Progress article wrote, "Glenn Rust, president and chief executive officer of Virginia National Bank, said the honorees showed vision, courage and persistence. The Hall of Fame, he said, helps honor those traits in those leaders.

“'This allows us to help remember the individuals who helped create the community we have today,' he said. 'Without them, it would not be the community we know.'”

Virginia National Bank is a proud sponsor of the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA’s Compassionate Care-A-Van! This new vehicle enables the local animal shelter provide basic care to pets in underserved areas of our community, where families have more difficulty accessing and affording care for their pets.  The Compassionate Care-A-Van can transport animals back to the clinic for procedures, including spaying/neutering. They will assist neighboring shelters in an effort to increase their live release rates, thereby reducing unnecessary euthanasia in the region.Compassionate Care-A-Van

The Compassionate Care-A-Van will allow for up to 30 shelter animals to be transported to off-site events in the community.  It will increase the number of adoptable animals present at off-site events, resulting in greater public awareness and more adoptions of shelter pets.

Virginia National Bank is excited to be a part of the Compassionate Care-A-Van to help further the reach for the care of all animals in the community.

VNB is participating in the 2017 Pantops Corporate Fitness Challenge organized by certified personal trainer Nikki Hart. For 25 years Nikki has been committed to increasing health and improving lives of individuals, but has shifted her focus to helping companies as well. In the Fitness Challenge several Pantops businesses compete against each other in month-long exercise challenges. This is the first year of this challenge which allows employees of participating companies to get fit while working as a team in a competition against their local business neighbors. We encourage more businesses to join in on the fun!

VNB has won three out of the five month-long exercise challenges so far, earning several trophies to demonstrate our commitment to keeping VNB employees healthy. The top companies will compete in a final Fitness Challenge against each other in an obstacle course and race at the end of 2017!

The integration of the wellness program for VNB employees offers:

  1. Healthy lifestyles
  2. Team comradery (or camaraderie, if you’re French!) and unity within the office
  3. Employee retention

Virginia National Bank is thrilled to attend the Orange Gala on June 3, 2017 at Montebello to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. For over a decade, the Orange Gala has been one of the premier events in Orange County, raising significant funds to support the operating budget of the Orange Club.

The venue of Montebello was generously donated by Colin Rosse, Gray Rosse and Lesley Foster, 9th generation owners of Montebello.

Glenn Rust and Arthur Bryant will be in attendance and ready to bid during the program and live auction portion of the event! Cocktails, dinner and dancing will be enjoyed, but the focus will be to raise funds for the programs that help children through the Orange Boys & Girls Club.
